Post 9907 Hall & Kitchen Use
1)
Current Practice Regarding VFW and Auxiliary Members
Currently it
has been the practice of the White Mountain Area VFW Post 9907 to allow VFW
Members, regardless of affiliation with post, the use of both the hall and
kitchen free of charge. While members were informed of their responsibilities following
any event, post is still responsible for care and cleaning of these spaces. Current practice is that all events are coordinated,
approved with the Canteen Manager and scheduled in advance.
2) Current Rental Costs Post Hall & Kitchen - Non-Members:
· Post fee for use of the hall
and kitchen – $250.00 with $50.00 cleaning deposit (will be returned after hall
and kitchen are cleaned).
Suggested Increase:
·
Suggested increase for use of the
hall and kitchen - $300.00 with $50.00 cleaning deposit (will be returned after
hall and kitchen are cleaned). Note: Increase of $50.00
3)
Current Rental Cost Post Hall & Kitchen - 9907 & Auxiliary Members:
Current Post Fee: 0
Any member of Post 9907 and its Auxiliary may use the kitchen at a nominal fee of $100.00 with the $50.00 returnable cleaning deposit. Note: Increase of $50.00
Changes
Based on future
financial obligations, the following changes are effect:
a) Any
member of Post 9907 and it’s Auxiliary and is in good standing and supports
post (i.e. attending meetings and/or support post 5-8 times per year with
functions, events, and mandated programs) may use the hall (not the kitchen) free
of charge.
Note: Based on the discretion of Post
Officers that can be changed based on case-by-case requests. Imposed fees for
use of kitchen resources would not apply to official post functions i.e.
District Meetings, celebration of life events, etc.
Rational for Changes
a) Post
9907 is required to replace its aging kitchen fire suppression system and kitchen
hood. This requirement is code based, and the kitchen will be shut down if
issues are not upgraded. Post’s ability to support our members and the
community at large are in jeopardy. The high costs of purchasing this
equipment, installation and unforeseen costs force post leadership to review
its long-standing practices and find ways to pay for these required
modifications.
b) Under
this current climate, we cannot simply continue assuming costs until we resolve
the issues affecting our kitchen. Post
members can still use the hall (see use of kitchen services above) but "gratis
use” should be address until we replace our kitchen’s infrastructure.
c) Where
Post 9907 directly sponsored groups, this will not apply and be are pre-approved
by post leadership.
d) The
House Committee is the operational entity responsible for the building and can
make longstanding operational changes for post.
