The White Mountain Area VFW Post 9907 Post Benefits Advisor (PBA) is a member of a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post who provides information and guidance to veterans, their families, and other worthy cases about available benefits and services, but is not an accredited VA representative The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. or VFW.

Role and Responsibilities

Information and Outreach: PBAs help comrades and their families understand the benefits they may be entitled to, encourage them to file claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and connect them with accredited VFW Service Officers or Claim Consultants the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. or VFW.

Community Awareness: They are expected to know about local and national programs and services for veterans that are not provided by the VA, such as health care, housing, education, and employment assistance The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. or VFW.

Case Referral: PBAs often serve as the first point of contact for veterans in their community, referring them to the appropriate accredited representatives for claim processing The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. or VFW.

Supervision: Their work is generally supervised by a Department Service Officer (DSO) or District Service Officer (DSO) VFW Department Pacific Areas.

Key Distinction from Accredited Service Officers

• Not Accredited: PBAs are not accredited by the VA to represent claimants in benefit claims before the VA VFW Department of Arizona. 
• No Legal Standing: They do not have the authority to file VA forms, represent claimants in appeals, or act as legal advocates in VA proceedings VFW Department of Arizona.

Support Role: Their role is advisory and informational, focusing on awareness, referral, and encouragement to seek help from accredited officers
